All MNCs operating in China need the on-the-ground support of a China general counsel at times,
but not all can justify one on a full-time basis.
We offer a unique and flexible solution: the full capacity of the on-the-ground China Outside GC
on an as-needed basis, and at a fraction of the cost of hiring full time legal counsels,
or setting up a legal department in China.
Our Team is made up of a GC Group consisting of US qualified, senior corporate lawyers, who are former
China GCs or APGCs at Fortune 500 companies, and a Support Team of of junior to mid-level
PRC licensed lawyers all top PRC law school graduates trained at leading Chinese law firms.
We also have an Advisory of advisors consisting of Chinese law firm partners who are proven effecive leading lawyers in their areas, and most of whom we have worked with for decades as regional GCs.
GC Group
The GC Group is led by Shao-Ying Mautner who has been practing law in China and the Asia Pacific region
for over 20 years - both as a regional general counsel for Nike, Diageo and Tektronix (of Danaher Group) and
in private practice with the leading UK firm Freshfields in Hong Kong.
Shao-Ying successfully played the long time China General Counsel role at Nike for whom she won all its significant lawsuits in China, including what the Chinese Supreme Court deemed the “2006 IP Case of the Year.” Shao-Ying is now on the Advisory Board of Deheng a major PRC law firm with 25 offices in China.
With over 20 years of experience in the field working with some of the world's largest businesses and
advising the companies on every aspect of their China operations, Ms. Mautner has a well-earned reputation as one of the top General Counsels in the region.
